THE RELAUNCH
Here she is, out in the fresh air on 15th January 2003, on the trolley on the slipway... |
... and slipping back into the water after spending the last two months in the paint shed. |
Mark peers over the stern wondering why the trolley has stopped... |
...and makes sure that the engine exhaust is above water level whilst they try to work out why the trolley has stopped. |
Nothing else for it - Nick has to get in the water to investigate the
problem with the trolley.
The water is C-C-C-COLD! Two days earlier, the ice had been 2" thick. The
last of the ice melted yesterday afternoon, so the water temperature can't
be more than about 1 or 2°C today (15th January 2003).

The trolley has inexplicably come off the rails, and won't move either up
or down.
A decision is taken that the boat will have to be craned off
the trolley, so a line has to be passed underneath to get the lifting
straps under. |

Despite all the hassle, and the bitingly cold wind, Nick remains cheerful throughout. |
When will that crane arrive? It will be dark soon. |
It was dark when the crane arrived at 5.30 p.m.
You may just be able to see the lifting straps and the
light reflecting off the water in the clear space under the boat.

I continue to be impressed by the staff at Weltonfield. Everyone stayed on
late to help with the lift. The crane driver knew his job, and the lift
went remarkably smoothly considering the poor visibility.
'The Antidote' was safely back in the water at 6.30 p.m.
